The Child Welfare Services Case Management System (CWS/CMS) is the statewide database utilized by California's County Child Protective Services agencies. The CWS/CMS Division of the Office of Systems Integration is the State agency responsible for the operation and maintenance of the database only.

Report Child Abuse / Neglect

The CWS/CMS Division has no legal authority to receive or process child abuse reports. Do not send abuse or neglect reports to the CWS/CMS Division office. To report Child Abuse/Neglect in California you must contact a local Child Protective Services agency. County contact information is available on either one of these websites:

 

Child Welfare Case or Referral Inquiries

The CWS/CMS Division has no legal authority to receive or process inquiries about children or specific cases. To make an inquiry about a Child Welfare Case or Referral, contact the local California County Child Welfare Social Services agency. A list is available at the CWDA Resources links website.

The California Department of Social Services website has information about filing complaints.

 

Foster Care or Licensing Inquiries/Reports

The CWS/CMS Division has no legal authority to receive or process inquiries about Foster Care or Licensing. If you are interested in providing Foster Care or have an inquiry or report about a Foster Care provider, resources and links can be found at the California Department of Social Services websites:

 

CWS/CMS Applications Support Team

The CWS/CMS Applications Support Team provides customer support for all 58 California Counties' CWS/CMS Users, as well as sponsors and stakeholders of the CWS/CMS application. We manage the communications infrastructure that assures Child Welfare Staff are provided with consistent and reliable information regarding CWS/CMS. We also maintain web-based applications for the counties to assist them in managing the tools they use in connection with child welfare activities. The Customer Relations Team members are assigned regions of CWS/CMS counties and are the main point of contact in support of the CWS/CMS Application.

Our primary goals are to:

  • Ensure consistent, effective and timely communication to the Counties.
  • Ensure the CWS/CMS application meets the Counties' business needs.
